She won ‘Miss Deaf Asia 2018’Italic text title at the 18th edition of Miss and Mister Deaf World -Europe -Asia Beauty Pageant 2018 recently held at Prague, Czech Republic. Prior to this title, she had also won the Miss Deaf India title. Nishtha was born with 100% hearing impairment and had to work very hard with speech therapy in order to develop her speech. Nishtha is a girl with myriad qualities; she started playing Judo at the age of 7 and won many medals. At the age of 12, she started playing Lawn Tennis. Nishtha has been an International Lawn Tennis player, having played many All India Tennis Association (AITA), Asian Tour Tennis and ITF tournaments. She represented India thrice in International games viz. Deaflympics – 2013 held in Sofia, Bulgaria, World Deaf Tennis Championship – 2015 held in Nottingham, UK and Deaflympics – 2017 held in Samsun, Turkey. Early Life and EducationNishtha was born in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Her father is a Chief Engineer in Northern Railways. She completed her schooling from Ambience Public School in Delhi. She played tennis for about 10 years (2007 to 2017), having played in many AITA, ITF and Asia Tour Tennis Tournaments and achieved many milestones. Prior to that, also played Judo for five years (2002 to 2007) and won many medals. She is a commerce graduate from Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University and presently pursuing M.A in economics from Mithibai College, University of Mumbai. PageantryNishtha began her journey by winning the Miss Deaf India-2018 in a beauty pageant held in February 2018 under the aegis of All India Deaf Arts and Culture Society (AIDACS). References1.
