Noire Gallery is a contemporary art gallery owned and directed by Noire family and it is based in Turin[1]. The Gallery carries out continuous research and is attentive to the latest tendencies in contemporary art.

History

Noire Gallery was born in 1983 from the passion of Marco Noire and his wife, Silvia Chessa, for art[2].

The two had founded a publishing activity and during their career they released some prints and multiples by artists, the first one in the late ‘70s[3]. From then, they started to create a network of relationship between artists, collectors and public which brought them to add an exhibition space to their editorial work. Noire Gallery has always specialized in various techniques, moving beyond the traditional reproduction ones, such as lithography, etching or silkscreen, making multiples in low numbers again in various materials. Attentive to the latest trends of the contemporary art, the Gallery focused its main interest on the national[4] and international[5] [6] artists, whose art is promoted by Noire Gallery in museums and exhibitions all over the world, creating special projects for and with them.

Artists

Noire Gallery has at various time worked with and exhibited Giovanni Anselmo[7], Alighiero Boetti[4], Hamish Fulton[8], Jannis Kounellis[9], Sol Lewitt[10], Richard Long[11], Mario Merz[12], Maurizio Nannucci[13], Richard Nonas, Giulio Paolini[4], Giuseppe Penone[14], David Tremlett[15], Gilberto Zorio[16], Shirin Neshat[17] and Alan Charlton [6].

Recently it has focused on artists such as Zwelethu Mthethwa..[18], Miguel Angel Rios[19], the Russian group AES+F[20], Hiba Schahbaz[21], Jay One Ramier[22] and SKKI[5]
