The Northern Indiana Kazoo Club Conference International Magic Indiana National Akazoo Journey (NIKCCI MINAJ) is an assemblage of kazoo clubs from high schools in LaPorte County, Indiana and St. Joseph County, Indiana. The more referred to name is the Northern Indiana Kazoo Club Conference (NIKCC). HistoryThe precursor to the NIKCC was the New Prairie Kazoo Club. The group was formed in 2017 after a student was given the idea by her math teacher to start a kazoo club after bringing over twenty kazoos to class repeatedly.[1] Their first performance was during the High School band winter concert where they played "Silent Night." Little more was done that year. In 2018, there was a surge in membership with thirteen members. They prepared the song "Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen song)" for the High School Fall band concert. Wanting to spread the art of kazooing, it was proposed on October 29, 2018 that there should be a Conference for kazoo clubs of Northern Indiana. On November 2, the Constitution was ratified by the New Prairie High School, establishing the first kazoo conference in the world. StructureThe original New Prairie Kazoo Club was lead by a dictator, but out of fear that the public would have a negative impression of the organization. The new title of Head Honcho was given to the leader of each member kazoo club. Kanop was the term given to the leader of the NIKCC and is the Head Honcho of their own kazoo club. Sponsorship of a school staff member is necessary for the kazoo club to be admitted to the NIKCC. The sponsor of the Kanop's club is given the title of Head Sponsor and steps in during disputes and the amendment process. The only power required of a sponsor is treasurer for their club, it is up to the Head Honcho to grant more powers to their sponsor. The NIKCC is open to any high school kazoo clubs in LaPorte and St. Joseph Counties in Indiana. Only one club per high school is allowed to enter the NIKCC. The following high schools are eligible for membership:
New Prairie's Kazoo Club was the first head kazoo club, the Kanop and Head Sponsor's club. After a Kanop graduates high school, the title of Kanop is granted to the Head Honcho of another club.
