Nothing of Merit Is a punk band from Houston TX. Although the Genesis of the band was start long ago in Chicago Illinois when its founding member Jeff Schmitz started attending punk shows in high school. Stephanie Brown and [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maureen_Herman Maureen Herman] Introduced Jeff to the style of music and to many live shows such as Big Black and Articles of Faith It was around this time that Jeff picked up the guitar after a chance encounter backstage with TSOL frontman Jack Grisham. Many lineups including some in South Florida were formed but nothing really took off. After relocating to Houston Texas Jeff met Hates drummer Bruce Courtney..the two clicked and started recording and playing live. They met at a show where they were playing in different bands.
