First it was opened as the department for teachers’ training. On September 1 in 1935 about 42 graduates of this department began to study at Karakalpak state teachers’ training institute under the leadership of 12 teachers. In 1944 after movement to Nukus, the institute was re-established into Karakalpak state pedagogical institute. The first rector of the institute was I.Rafikov. For many years the pedagogical institute has trained the teaching personnel for the field of public education of Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan and other neighbouring states. It is situated in 5 campuses. In 1976 on the basis of the institute there was founded Karakalpak state university. Re-established in 1991 again, Nukus state pedagogical institute became a new stage in training pedagogical staff, development and improvement of the quality of education. In 1992 the institute was named after Ajiniyaz, the great Karakalpak poet–classic. General InformationThe total area of the institute is 65075 m2 in particular, the training area is 25700 m2. At present there are 9 faculties (Physics-Labour, Mathematics-Informatics, Preschool and Primary education, Pedagogical, History and Geography, Philology, Foreign languages, Chemistry-Biology and Physical culture) and 27 departments. Specialists are being trained in 23 fields of Bachelor degree and 14 fields of magistracy. Teachers’ staff of the higher educational establishment constitutes: 18 Doctors of sciences, professors, 127 Candidates of sciences, docents. More than 450 teachers work at the institute, they teach students for getting Bachelor degree and postgraduate students in the fields of magistracy. Outstanding personalities-graduatesMany outstanding personalities-statesmen of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, workers in the spheres of agriculture, economics, culture and science studied at the institute at different periods of time. Graduates of the institute work in different parts of Uzbekistan, in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and other countries. Among the graduates of the institute there are many outstanding people: Hero of World War II P.Nurpeyisov, Hero of Uzbekistan Allaniyaz Uteniyazov, Vera Pak, Tolepbergen Kayipbergenov, Ibrayim Yusupov, Gayratdin Khojaniazov, academicians Marat Nurmukhamedov, Sabir Kamalov, Jumanazar Bazarbaev, Amin Bakhiev, Khusniddin Khamidov, Abatbay Dauetov, the champion of Asia Rustam Djangabaev. Students’ lifeFor the years of Independence 5 students of the institute became the winners (laureates) of the State scholarship of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 30 students – the State scholarship named after Alisher Navoyi, 13 students- the State scholarship named after Ulugbek, 3 students- the State scholarship named after Beruniy and 1 student- the State scholarship named after Ibn-Sino, 1 student- the State scholarship named after Zulfia, 4 students were awarded the State Prize “Nihall”. A theatre-studio “Turan” organized from the talented students of the institute, became the winner of the contest “Joyful and nimble” held in Uzbekistan. The talented students of the folk ensemble”Tumaris” take an active part in festive events of the country. There are all conditions for students of the institute to study and to take part in different sport competitions. Only for the last year and a half our students were awarded 74 sets of medals, 14 medals were awarded at the championships of Asia and World. Besides, there was founded an electronic library with the electronic versions of 5100 lectures, textbooks and other necessary literature. The students’ dormitory for 400 places was reconstructed in 2018. In the students’ dormitory there is a room for spiritual-enlightening work, a reading hall of the Information Resource centre, a computer class, a room for educators, 4 bathrooms for 32 places and a toilet, 4rooms for hygiene and a canteen. A net Wi-Fi functions and is used by students. There are created all conditions for students to go in for sports, including the sections in 17 kinds of sport. According to the contracts in scientific-research work for 5 years, in educational process and improving qualification in the fields “Exchange” and PhD there were performed about 50 different kinds of work. Foreign studentsThe institute is always open for foreign students. There are more than 50 foreign students. The new study campusThe new study campus is considered for 2000 seats: rector’s office, Information-Resource centre, 4 classrooms for 180 seats, totally – 720. It is planned to build a seven-storied basic campus, floors 1-4 is an academic campus and floors 5-7 is for administration – rector’s office and Information-Resource centre. The construction of the building of Nukus state pedagogical institute is included into the project of Decree of the State Programme adopted on April 20 of 2017 “Measures on the development of the system of higher education” by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The planned construction will have been finished by the end of 2019. International contactsNukus State Pedagogical Institute cooperates with nearly 30 leading universities in the world, such as England, USA, China, South Korea, Belarus, Latvia and Russia. In 2018, more than 50 faculty and students actively participated in international workshops and competitions. 10 of them won the international grand prix and prize-winning places.
