Off Menu is an weekly British podcast hosted by the comedians James Acaster and Ed Gamble, in which each week a guest is asked to explain their dream meal. Each episode features a guest, usually a celebrity or comedian, who names their favourite starter, main, side, drink and desert[1]. The podcast was launched in 2018 and is produced by Ben Williams for Plosive Productions[2]. ContentThe premise for the podcast is that the guest is entering a magical restaurant, in which they can order any food in the world, from any time[3]. Acaster plays a genie waiter[4], who receives the orders and send them back to an imaginary kitchen. Before the guest arrives, a food is chosen which, if said by the guest, will get them kicked out of the restaurant. The guest is asked whether they would like sparkling or still water, before Acaster asks them about their bread choice by shouting "Poppadoms or bread". They are then asked about their dream meal, and the conversation is based around their choices. At the end of the podcast, Acaster reads the meal back to Gamble and the guest, and the choices are finalised. ReceptionThe Metro named the podcast one of it's "Best podcasts to start the year"[5], and Off Menu reached number 1 on the iTunes Podcast charts in November 2018[6].
