Otto Ellenbogen (born in Vienna on September 19, 1922) is an Israeli artist, descendent of the mystic Elimelech of Lizhensk.

In 1938, while still in secondary school, he was able to emigrate to Palestine with “Youth Aliyah”. The self-taught artist showed his work at Givat Chaim as early as 1940. Numerous exhibitions in Israel and the United States followed.

Otto Ellenbogen’s oeuvre is marked by his interest in archeology and the ancient cultures of the Middle East, especially the Hebrew tribe, and the creation of monotheism.

Elllenbogen has participated in numerous excavations in Hazor as a scientific advisor. From 1969 to 1970 he headed the “Israel Painters and Sculptors Association”.

Otto Ellenbogen lives in Tel Aviv.
