Owen (Eoin) Ó Súilleabhain is a singer, composer, and educator who leads cultural tours in Ireland along with his mother, Nóirín Ní Riain and his brother Moley Ó Súilleabhain. Owen and his brother performed as the group size2shoes from 2007 to 2012, releasing two albums and being covered by national media in Ireland and America. Owen, along with his brother Moley, have released new albums in the style of ancient and contemporary music, recently Fields of Grace - Celtic Meditation Music from the Heart of Ireland. Owen himself has a wide range of musical talents from songwriting, playing guitar, singing sacred Irish music, to performing pop with his brother Moley which features upbeat popular music and rap. He grew up in a musical family with Owen's parents Nóirín Ní Riain and Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin are considered pioneers of Irish music.

Background

Owen grew up in Glanmire in Cork for the first eight years of his life and then the family moved to Murroe, County Limerick, the home of Glenstal Abbey in 1988 and to County Tipperary in 1993.

Owen has a Degree in Philosophy at University College Dublin and a Masters Degree in Peace Studies from the University of Limerick.

Owen sang Plain Chant with the Monks at Glenstal Abbey his mother Nóirín and the Glenstal Abbey monks in 2003 for the album "Biscantorat." Irish poet John O'Donohue and Irish singer Sinéad O' Connor are also featured on the album.

Owen and Moley performed with their mother Nóirín Ní Riain in an a capella vocal trio in 2004. They learned Gregorian chant and Irish sean nó (ancient traditional) from different traditions. In 2012, Owen moved from Ireland to America. Since living in the United States, Owen has toured around the country. He and his brother Moley also conduct music performances and workshops around the United States, often incorporating storytelling.

Current

Owen brought his artistry and leadership style to business and academic institutions, such as the [https://storytelling.stanford.edu/ Stanford University Storytelling Project]. He co-leads workshops with The Studio organization. Owen has composed original songs for Teaching Channel and Stanford's Storytelling Project.

Owen and Moley are expanding their musical performances in the United States and are touring in 2019. They will be appearing in the spring of 2019 on an upcoming episode (Season 4) of Connecticut Public Television's live music production The Kate.
