[2] He is probably most known for running a number of controversial political campaigns which have garnered national media attention. [3] BiographyO’Hana was born in 1994 in Withington, south Manchester. He is half Spanish and predominantly uses his mother's surname (O'Hana) rather than his father's (Grainger).[4] He went to St. Paul’s Primary School in Withington and Parrs Wood High School in east Didsbury, where he failed a number of exams, notably attempting three times to pass his Maths GCSE, eventually leaving with a D.[5] He studied Graphic Design, Film Studies, Media Studies and Theology at Pendleton College in Salford where he again struggled to attain target grades.[6] He did not go on to further education or university.[7] CareerO’Hana began working with British actor Billie Piper in 2011[8] while also working part-time at the European cinema chain ODEON and Northern Ireland based visitor attraction Titanic Belfast. [9] In 2014, he began working for the Liberal Democrats in a number of Parliamentary seats ahead of the 2015 General Election. He designed a campaign entitled #Makeit15 which went on to win a number of national awards including "Best Digital Campaign of the 2015 General Election" at The Social Election awards.[10] He also worked on the 2016 Local Elections for the Liberal Democrats where he led the PR and digital campaign to re-elect former MP John Leech to Manchester Council. The Manchester Evening News described the result as "historic", signifying the first gain for any party in Manchester other than Labour for the first time in six years and providing the city with its first opposition for two years. [11] The leader of the Liberal Decmorats, Tim Farron, personally congratulated the win. [12] During 2016 he also worked with Catherine Bearder - a Member of the European Parliament - who said O'Hana leaving her team was a "real loss" at the Liberal Democrats' national party conference.[13] He worked on the 2016 EU Referendum for Remain where he also worked closely alongside notable Remain campaigners Tim Farron, Nick Clegg, Gordon Brown, Paddy Ashdown, Ed Miliband and Catherine Bearder.[14] He stood unsuccessfully twice in the 2015[15] and 2016 [16] Manchester local elections for the Liberal Democrats. [17] He joined the Civil Service as a PR and Content Manager in the Department for Transport in January 2017 staying for just 18 months.[18] After leaving the Civil Service in 2018, O’Hana founded Apostrophe - a PR and talent agency based in Manchester.[19] Clients at the time of founding included TV presenter Kate Garraway, British actor Billie Piper and reality TV personalities Alex Reid and Angelique 'Frenchy' Morgan. [20] Apostrophe also has a political strand which manages the PR and marketing campaigns for a number of predominantly left wing politicians including former MP John Leech and Mayoral Candidate Jane Brophy. [21] Through his company he also helps in campaigns around the world including the US mid-term elections, the Netherland's municipal elections and the Irish referendum to legalise abortion.[22] He occasionally writes for Manchester Gazette and The Tab.[23] ControversyO’Hana’s political campaigns have frequently generated news headlines for “taking it too far.”[24] In 2016, O’Hana designed a series of campaign posters and videos for the local elections that caused a “huge row”, according to local media sources. One poster depicted a human neck, complete with bruises and vivid veins, being strangled by a red tie. Alongside the image was “No Opposition. No Voice.” The poster aimed to highlight the “one party state” on Manchester Council, which at the time had no opposition councillors.[25] The same year, he produced a video entitled "Welcome to Manchester" which featured controversial imagery and provocative sounds effects throughout inspired by media such as Nineteen Eighty-Four, Big Brother and other dystopian influences. It was widely condemned for comparing Manchester City Council to North Korea and the use of 'one party state'.[26] During the 2018 local elections, O’Hana produced another campaign advert for the Liberal Democrats which the Manchester Labour Party attacked as “tasteless” and “immoral”.[27] They also demanded apologies and said the advert should be pulled. The film showed young children watching TV and reacting to news headlines, including controversial comments about women made by a local Labour councillor. Local and national media picked the video up with some claiming it was “something you’d expect to see in the 2020 Presidential campaigns in the US, not Manchester’s council election”, whilst others claimed it was “exploitative”. [28] One particularly critical review of the film said: "The hopeful party have taken it too far. Their latest release is a hard-hitting film called ‘What Will You Say?’ akin to an Action Aid advert prompting you to save a starving child. It essentially conjures guilt in voters considering opting for Labour and suggests many painful years of voter’s remorse if they do so. Hit play and you’re introduced to a number of children innocently watching TV and cuddling with their toys, but there’s an eerie aura to it – they all look terrified." O’Hana defended the film, dismissing claims it was controversial and instead said it was, “an uncomfortable truth.” [29] References1. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.thetalentmanager.com/talent/84386/pablo-ohana|title=The Talent Manager {{!}} Pablo O'Hana|last=|first=|date=|website=|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=}} 2. ^{{Cite web|url=http://apostrophetalent.com|title=Apostrophe Talent {{!}} Celebrity Mangement|website=Apostrophe Talent {{!}} Celebrity Mangement|language=en|access-date=2018-11-26}} 3. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.mancunianmatters.co.uk/content/010577399-opinion-liberal-democrats-new-manchester-campaign-video-takes-it-too-far-and-makes|title=Opinion: Liberal Democrats' new Manchester campaign video takes it too far and makes them look desperate {{!}} Mancunian Matters|website=www.mancunianmatters.co.uk|language=en|access-date=2018-11-26}} 4. ^https://twitter.com/Pablo_1994 5. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.linkedin.com/in/pabloohana/detail/recent-activity/shares/|title=LinkedIn {{!}} Pablo O'Hana Education|last=|first=|date=|website=|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=}} 6. ^http://www.salfordcc.ac.uk/pendleton-sixth-form-college/results-2014 7. ^{{Cite web|url=http://linkedin.com/in/pabloohana|title=LinkedIn {{!}} Pablo O'Hana Education|last=|first=|date=|website=|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=}} 8. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.thestage.co.uk/news/2015/billie-piper-appointed-patron-of-schools-shakespeare-company/|title=The Stage {{!}} Pablo O'Hana Billie Piper|last=|first=|date=2015-11-25|website=|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=}} 9. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.industryinthestreets.co.uk/iits-6-with-social-network-guru-pablo-ohana/|title=IITS 6 WITH SOCIAL NETWORK GURU PABLO O'HANA – INDUSTRY IN THE STREETS|website=www.industryinthestreets.co.uk|language=en-US|access-date=2018-11-25}} 10. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/manchester-wins-3-campaign-awards-pablo-o-hana?trk=related_artice_Manchester%20Wins%203%20Campaign%20Awards_article-card_title|title=Manchester Wins 3 Campaign Awards|website=www.linkedin.com|language=en|access-date=2018-11-26}} 11. ^{{Cite web|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160817010741/http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/local-elections-2016-results-manchester-11291998|title=Manchester local election results 2016: John Leech ends Labour's total grip on the town hall - Manchester Evening News|date=2016-08-17|access-date=2018-11-26}} 12. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.mancunianmatters.co.uk/content/080477365-lib-dems-local-election-hopes-mm-chats-john-leech-about-mays-battle-ballot-box|title=Lib Dems' local election hopes: MM chats to John Leech about May's battle at the ballot box {{!}} Mancunian Matters|website=www.mancunianmatters.co.uk|language=en|access-date=2018-11-26}} 13. ^{{Citation|last=Liberal Democrats|title=Autumn Conference Live Stream - Conference Auditorium|date=2016-09-20|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBaWd3w3-lk&feature=youtu.be&t=9405|access-date=2018-11-26}} 14. ^{{Cite news|url=https://twitter.com/pablo_1994/status/693081908394246148|title=Pablo O'Hana on Twitter|work=Twitter|access-date=2018-11-26|language=en}} 15. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.manchester.gov.uk/directory_record/224177/local_elections_2015/category/1392/local_elections|title=Election results - Local elections 2015 {{!}} Manchester City Council|last=Council|first=Manchester City|website=www.manchester.gov.uk|language=en|access-date=2018-11-26}} 16. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.manchester.gov.uk/directory_record/224175/local_elections_2016/category/1392/local_elections|title=Election results - Local elections 2016 {{!}} Manchester City Council|last=Council|first=Manchester City|website=www.manchester.gov.uk|language=en|access-date=2018-11-26}} 17. ^{{Cite web|url=https://whocanivotefor.co.uk/person/14781/pablo-ohana|title=Pablo O'Hana for Northenden ward in the Manchester local election|website=Who Can I Vote For?
