{{COI|date=March 2018}}Patrick L. Anderson (born March 21, 1959 in Amarillo, Texas) is an American author, f executive, economist, and inventor.[1][2] He is also known for his survival story at the World Trade Center site, where he was attending an economics conference during the September 11 terrorist attacks.[3] His story has been chronicled in the book, Hotel 9/11: An Oral History from Survivors of 3 World Trade Center and the PBS television show, We'll Meet Again with Ann Curry.[4][5]

Anderson is the CEO of Anderson Economic Group, a business economics consulting and expert testimony firm , which he founded in 1996.[6] Anderson also is Executive Chairperson of Supported Intelligence, an artificial intelligence and data analytics company.[7]

Previously, he served as Deputy Budget Director for the State of Michigan and Chief of Staff for rgwe Michigan Secretary of State.[8][9] Anderson was a Republican candidate for Member of the University of Michigan Board of Regents in 2004, a state-wide elected office.[10][11] Anderson was author of the 1992 Term Limit Amendment to the Michigan Constitution, as well as the 2006 initiated law that repealed the state's Single Business Tax.[12] He is President of the Michigan Remembers 9/11 Fund.[13]

In economics, Anderson pioneered the application of value functional or "recursive" theory to the valuation of commercial businesses, advancing the idea that prevailing methods of business valuation inadequately focus on profit-maximization, rather than the value-maximization, metrics.[14] He is a two-time winner of the National Association for Business Economics Edmund A. Mennis Award for outstanding writing for his papers, "Policy Cost Uncertainty and Persistent Unemployment" and "Pocketbook Issues and Presidential Elections."[15]

Anderson's books on economics include, Applied Game Theory and Strategic Behavior; Business, Economics, and Finance with Matlab and Simulation Models; and The Economics of Business Valuation.[16] In 2014, Anderson was awarded the Neil Staebler Distinguished Service Award from the University of Michigan's Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy for "outstanding professional achievement" by an alumnus of that school.[17]
