释义 {{AFC submission|d|corp|u=Batwoman90210|ns=118|decliner=K.e.coffman|declinets=20181025031748|ts=20180905184319}} Periscape, Inc. is a virtual reality (VR) company based in Los Angeles, California that specializes in creating location-based virtual reality experience centers at high-profile locations. They were the first company to put VR into airports when they launched their first pop-up experience center in the middle of the retail lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 4 in June 2018.[1] Seventy thousand people pass through Terminal 4 every day, with an average "dwell time" of three to four hours. “I think people are desperate for entertainment—they run toward us,” said Lynn Rosenthal, chief executive of Periscape VR, the startup that designed the “immersive entertainment” virtual-reality installation at JFK. “You’ve got a bunch of stressed-out, bored people looking for something to do besides eat or drink.”[2]

Periscape's self-service VR Towers are designed by Gensler Architects.[3] Each tower includes a storage unit where travelers can put their luggage while they are immersed in VR.[4] The VR Towers may be operated without an attendant, but because virtual reality is new technology for so many consumers, the company staffs its location with brand ambassadors they call VRtenders. Among the titles offered to users are the Blu, Job Simulator, Longbow, Fruit Ninja, and Beat Saber.[5] Periscape worked with VRsenal to design the interface for the international terminal, which functions in nine different languages.[6] Periscape runs all its titles on the HP Windows Mixed Reality Headset.[7]

Periscape was founded by Lynn Rosenthal, who is a former producer at CBS and marketing and branding consultant who specializes in celebrity and retail.[8]
