Significant WorksHis compositions and art works have been performed and shown internationally e.g. his orchestra piece for the 25th anniversary celebration of the German Unity Day which has been performed on October 3rd, 2015 in the Berlin Philharmonie: "gemeinsam... /- nicht mit mir!" for tuba solo, orchestra, children’s orchestra, 3 room ensembles and 5 channel surround sound composition.[2] His installation inside the Deutzer Brücke Cologne for Brückenmusik X[3] is exemplary for his artistic work which focuses on the interdependency of space and sound as well as his sound sculpture at the International Sculpture Biennale Blickachsen 10. [4] Lecturer and professorSince 2001 Peter Kiefer has been professor for New Music/New Media and Sound Art at the School of Music at Johannes Gutenberg-University of Mainz.[5] In 2010 he initiated the Master Studies program „Sound Art-Composition“ and is head of the Department „Sound Art-Composition“ at University of Mainz at the School of Music.[6] Since 2017 Fellow of the Gutenberg Research College, Director of the Research project “A.R.S. Art-Research-Sound. Cultural Practice of Sound in the Context of Sound Art and Art Research”.[7]. As lecturer he is invited internatonally e.g. at the Columbia University School of Arts [8] or the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Canada[9].
