Petras Masiulis (born 6 August 1969 in Vilnius) is a Lithuanian businessman who is general manager of the telecommunications company Tele2 in the country and former head of marketing for the Baltics at Colgate-Palmolive.

Biography

Petras Masiulis attended Vilnius Salomėja Nėris Gymnasium. He later earned master’s degrees in economics and international relations from the Faculty of Economics and the Institute of International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University, and an MBA from Aalborg University in Denmark.

In 1996, after completing his studies, Masiulis began his career at the international consumer products company Colgate-Palmolive. He served as product manager for Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia for four years, and in 2000-2002 was the company’s head of marketing for the Baltic States.[1].

Since 2003, Petras Masiulis has been the chief executive officer in Lithuania for European telecommunications operator Tele2. Under his leadership, Tele2 became Lithuania’s largest and most profitable mobile communications company. It is the only mobile communications company in Europe or North and South America to have gone from last place in the market to first place[2].

In 2016, the board of the Tele2 group appointed Masiulis head of operations for the Baltic region[3].

In 2017 he completed executive education programs at INSEAD and Wharton Business School, and in 2018 he began studies at IESE Business School in Spain.

Family

Petras Masiulis’s mother, Janina Masiulienė, was a lawyer, and his father, Tadas Masiulis, was a physicist and mathematician. His twin brother, Rokas Masiulis, is Minister of Transport and Communications of Lithuania.

Petras Masiulis and his wife Alanta have four children: Gabrielius, Mykolas, Marija and Margarita Marija.

Awards

  • Double “CEO of the Year” award in 2017 as the choice of a committee formed by Lithuanian business newspaper Verslo Žinios and Nordea Bank, and as the winner of online voting for the title by the general public[4].
  • Named “the CEO most quoted by the media” in awards organized in 2016 by Lithuanian newspaper Verslo Žinios together with Nordea Bank[5].
  • Elected “Best CEO of 2015” by readers of the news portal vz.lt in awards organized by Lithuanian newspaper Verslo Žinios together with Nordea Bank[6]
  • Awarded in 2014 by the President of Lithuania as “2013 CEO of the Year”, as selected in a competition organized by Veidas magazine[7].
