}}Pets4Homes is a classified advertising site for the sale and rehoming of pets.[2]

History

The website was founded in May 2005 by Mark Singleton.[3] Today the company is regarded as the UKs leading dedicated pet advertising site.[4]

Business model

The site is free to use. Private individuals, responsible breeders and rescue centres place adverts on the site and potential buyers or adopters contact sellers through the website.[5] No transactions occur on the website.[2] The site also provides buying advice information for prospective pet owners and frequently serves as an advocate for animal related issues in the mainstream press.[6][7]

Welfare standards

Pets4Homes was one of the first classified advertising websites to implement the Pet Advertising Advisory Group (PAAG) welfare standards for online pet sales.[8] Pets4Homes attempts to stop puppy farms or rogue sellers from advertising on its website by monitoring adverts, checking advertisers local authority licenses to make sure they are valid and working with local councils.[5]
