[2] His debut studio album, When We Were Young, was released in 2016 on Spinnup / Universal Music Group, and spawned the singles "Kill It" Ft. Alexx Frisby and “Here To Move” which was supported by “House Every Weekend” producer and DJ David Zowie.

Biography

Phoenix (real name; Paul Phoenix Marks) was born and raised in Hertfordshire. He had a close relationship with his late grandfather L.A Ferrero who played bass in a Jazz band in New York. It was his grandfather who helped a young Phoenix to play guitar and piano, helping to provide private music lessons for the aspiring, young musician.

By the age of 17, and whilst still studying Business and Law at college, Phoenix started DJ'ing at local venues, bars, clubs and private events around the home counties of England.

Music

At the age of 19, Phoenix decided that, instead of playing the hits of other artists, he would begin making his own music. Acquiring equipment necessary to being producing music, Phoenix soon began to hone in on his own trademark sound.

Soon Phoenix began attracting attention from both local artists, and established stars alike.

This saw him working with the likes of Pharrell Williams' record label StarTrack ENT; Ryan Leslie's NextSelection label; YMCMB; Crooked-I from Eminem's Shady Records; DefJam Records, Universal Records, plus more. He has also produced a large array of remixes for top 10 artists.

2014 saw a marked change in Phoenix's style, moving slowly away from hip hop in favour of a more club-like sound. Eventually transitioning into the Electronic Dance Music scene, he landed his first big cut by producing the 2014 National Arabic Basketball Championship Official Anthem - Brise d'été (Summer Breeze) which was held in Morocco.

Phoenix has spent 2 years working on his debut album 'When We Were Young' featuring a selection of talented singers and songwriters from around the world which was released on February 2016 through Island Records. The album was Phoenix first studio album release, and confirmed the move from hip hop to EDM.

Over the past year of releasing a selection of remix's and original tracks, Phoenix reached over 3.5 million plays on Soundcloud and over half a million views on his YouTube channel.

Whilst gaining an increase in followers and fan, Phoenix has been able to keep within the top 10 of EDM artists on reverbnation.com and took 1st place to take the crown in edmranks.com Top 100 DJ's/EDM Artists of 2015.
