Piotr Stepnowski (born 30 June 1970 in Gdańsk) – specialist in the field of chemistry and environmental chemistry, academic teacher, professor of chemical sciences at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Gdańsk.[1]. BiographyGraduate of the 3rd Secondary School in Gdynia. From the beginning, his whole academic career has been connected with the University of Gdańsk (UG), from which he graduated in 1995 from the interfaculty field of study Environmental Protection. He has completed scientific internship programmes at Lund University, ENEA Marine Research Centre in La Spezia and the University of Bremen. He has also participated in the polar research expedition of the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences on board the r/v Oceania. He obtained the title of professor of chemical sciences in 2010[2] His scientific interests concern the study of the mechanisms of the distribution and chemical transformation of environmental pollutants and methods for their analysis, as well as a toxicological assessment of their impact. He has published over 260 original and review works in journals from the ISI Master Journal List. He is the editor of 8 publications and author or co-author of 3 academic textbooks as well as 15 chapters in prestigious international publications. He has also delivered over 50 lectures. His works have been cited over 5,000 times and his current h-index stands at 40. He has been actively involved in obtaining funding for scientific research from both domestic and international institutions, securing support for nearly 50 scientific, research and development and didactic projects. He has received invitations from foreign universities and scientific institutions on numerous occasions. He has actively cooperated with the University of Bremen, the Technical University of Dresden (TUD), the University of Aveiro, the University of Lisbon, the Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin and the Blaise Pascal University in Clermont-Ferrand.
