Polly Bennett is a movement director and choreographer based in London. Bennett trained at National Youth Theatre and studied History of Art at the University of Edinburgh. She gained a movement MA from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama 2010–2011 before becoming resident movement practitioner at the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2012. Most recently she was responsible for the realisation of Rami Malek's Oscar-nominated portrayal of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody for Fox. [1][2] She has said of her role to Dance Magazine, "You're creating a dialogue between the actor and their character, so it's a lot of research about the world in which the story is told.... That includes everything from the temperature of the place to the rhythm of life there to what it's like to walk on that landscape. "You have to be able to offer information to the actors so that their imagination goes wild". She goes on: The film ends with Queen's 21-minute set at Live Aid in 1985, which might be one of the most famous rock performances of all time. The producers wanted to create an exact replica, a task that Bennett says was "mental". They rehearsed in front of Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor.[3] Rami talks about his work with Bennett on a Film 4 interview special.[4] In November 2018 Rami Malek went on The Ellen Show and demonstrated some of the work he did with Polly.[5] She has also choreographed for The Little Stranger [6] and Killing Eve (BBC America). She is currently working on The Crown Series 3 (Netflix) coaching the principle cast's transformations, including Olivia Colman, Tobias Menzies, Helena Bonham Carter, Jason Watkins and Josh O'Connor.
