Based in Hastings, England, he is the founder of the Hastings Sinfonia Orchestra and the International Composers Festival. Life and careerPiatti was born in the La Boca neighbourhood of Buenos Aires in Argentina. His grandfather emigrated to Argentina from Italy in the early 20th century and married a Native American woman. He began playing the piano at the age of 3 and was accepted to the Conservatorio Nacional Superior de Música at the age of 12. He moved to Europe after graduating at the age of 20, briefly returning to Argentina two years later before permanently settling in Europe.[1] Piatti worked in Spain, France and Germany before moving to the United Kingdom, taking up a job as a pianist and later the head of music at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London. In 2011, he was appointed composer in residence at the St. Mary in the Castle venue in Hastings. In 2012, he went on a tour in Japan and founded both the International Composers Festival and the Hastings Sinfonia Orchestra, for which he is also the artistic director.[2] In March 2016, Piatti released an album entitled Sentimental Journey which he recorded with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and had previously premiered in Osaka during his Japanese tour in 2012.[3] In May 2017, it was announced that His Place Community Church in Hastings would be converted to a 700-seat venue called the Opus Theatre to be opened in July that year, with Piatti as its director.[4] Discography
