Proper No. Twelve is an Irish whiskey founded by Irish mixed martial artist and boxer Conor McGregor. The whiskey was released in September 2018 in the United States and Ireland. BackgroundMcGregor worked with an expert master distiller for over three years at the oldest distillery in Ireland to create the whiskey, which was named Proper No. Twelve after the postal district (Dublin 12 in the Crumlin suburb) where McGregor grew up.[1] The whiskey is distributed by Proximo Spirits and produced by Eire Born Spirits.[2] One week after its release, The Sun reported that Tesco stores in Ireland had limited the whiskey to two bottles per customer due to high demand.[3] In November 2018, McGregor apologized to fans after the whiskey sold out what was meant to be a six-month supply.[4] McGregor stated that “hundreds of thousands” of bottles had been sold, and that more bottles were being produced. As of December 2018, the company plans to extend distribution of Proper No. Twelve to the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and Canada in 2019.
