He has entered the film industry as a cinematographer in the year 1989 through the movie Kalpana House directed by his elder brother P Chandrakumar. He has worked in more than 60 Malayalam movies as a Cinematographer. Besides being a well acknowledged Cinematographer he has acted in several movies including commercial block blusters like Chettaayees, Kaikudanna Nilavu & so on. His directorial debut is Swantham Lekhakan. He has won Best Cinematographer award in the reputed Kerala State Film Awards 1994 for the movie Sopanam directed by Jayaraj.
