FeaturesPyWPS supports OGC WPS standard in the 1.0.0 version, supporting various Python-available tools for geospatial data processing, e.g. GDAL, R (programming language), Fiona (programming), Rasterio (programming), GRASS GIS and more. HistoryPyWPS was initially started by Jachym Cepicky as part of his project Connecting of GRASS GIS with UMN MapServer supported by the German Environment Foundation[3]. He began to work on this project with a scholarship by GDF-Hannover that went from April to September of 2006.[4] Version 1.0.0 was released during 2006. Since the, PyWPS was further developed. In 2016, new version 4.0.0 was released, with support for | Python 3, MIT License (switched from previously used GNU/GPL) and completely new code base. In 2018, graduated[5] as OSGeo Project.
