Rajant is a privately owned American technology company headquartered in Malvern, PA, that provides multi-frequency wireless mesh networking solutions.[1]

Founding

Rajant Corporation was established in October 2001, after founders Robert Schena and Paul Hellhake identified significant shortcomings in traditional wireless networks following the September 11th terrorist attacks.[2][3]

Industries

The company serves many industries including: mining, oil and gas, public safety, ports, transportation and rail, petrochemical, agriculture, utilities, industrial, federal and municipal governments, and the Department of Defense.[4][5]

The products also have applications in smart factories, robotics, and IoT environments.[6]

Technology and Innovation

Rajant offers secure private wireless networks. The core routing software, instaMesh®[7], facilitates its Kinetic Mesh® mobile networking technology.[8] Rajant has also received several patents in the field.

Technology

A “Kinetic Mesh®” system is a combination of the hardware nodes using the InstaMesh® algorithm, a patented peer-to-peer networking technology to perform real-time evaluation and direct traffic.[9][10]

Hardware

BreadCrumb network nodes are separated into three (3) model lines broadly categorized by the number of transceivers per unit, for use in different network environments. These include the LX Series, ME Series, and JR Series.[15]

Other hardware includes the CacheCrumb node, a wireless transceiver with built-in processing power for edge computing applications[16] and the SlipStream node designed to interface between a wired network and the Rajant wireless system.[17]

Software

Several software tools are available to facilitate configuration, monitoring, and control of the network. These include BC|Commander Network Management Software, BC|Enterprise Mesh Network Monitoring Application, and BreadCrumb Application Programming Interface (BCAPI).[18]
