She currently plays professionally for Assi IF in Division 2 in Sweden. College careerTexas Tech, 2014-2017O'Brien was a part of Texas Tech head coach Tom Stone's 2014 signing class, joining the team from Albion Hurricanes FC in Houston. She was a four-star prospect according to Top Drawer Soccer.[1] She did not play high school soccer, as she was homeschooled. Upon her signing, Stone said: "All of our defenders have to be good on the ball and have a playmaker's mentality and be able to run so we can press at the other end. Rebekah excels in each category. She gets forward extremely well and passes on the run like a college player already."[2] O'Brien made her collegiate debut on August 24, 2014, playing for 24 minutes in a win over Oral Roberts.[3] She was named to the Big 12 All-Rookie team as a freshman after playing in 18 games. As a sophomore in 2015, she helped lead Texas Tech to the program's first-ever Big 12 Conference Championship with a 1-0 win over Kansas. After not scoring a goal her first two years, she scored three as a junior and one her senior year. She was a Second Team All-Big 12 selection as a senior.[4] Overall, she appeared in 80 matches in her collegiate career, making 45 starts. Club careerRävåsens IK, 2017–2018On March 29, 2018, O'Brien signed her first pro contract with Rävåsens IK in Sweden.[5] She played in all 26 matches in her first year and had four goals and two assists. She was voted the team's Most Valuable Player as well as the best defender in Värmland.
