Ronald Robert is a Jewish Holocaust survivor, his life begins in Germany but he and his family had to flee to Paris because of the looming shadow of Hitler. The Ronald family lived peacefully in Paris for about six years but the Vichy Government started making camps outside of France and Ronald's Father was one of the many that were taken to the camps. With this danger to confront the Ronald family had to leave France and run to safety in Cuba. Cuba was generally friendly and at least neutral so many refugees had taken refuge in the small country. Ronald with several of the other Jewish refugees started working in the diamond cutting business while living in Cuba. Ronald's family stayed in Cuba for about another six years then world war two ended and they could go to America. They moved to America and lived in New York where Ronald continued his education and went to college. After he finished his schooling he went traveling with friends to see the west coast, he ended up loving San Francisco and moving there. He soon started his own successful business and got married to a lady called Trish.[1] Ronald wrote a book about all the success and tragedy in his life hoping people will learn from his story. He also wrote the book for his children because he never told them the whole story and this made it easier to do so. The book is called, "The Last Train Home" because Ronald and his family took the last train out of Paris to the shipyard so they could flee to Cuba. Ronald has also made other accomplishments like being a successful stint in the army for 21 months, supporting Eco friendly organizations, and making his own business, he has even reached the ripe old age of 92 years old.[2] Ronald Robert |
