Ruckleigh is a co-educational, independent day school catering for around 240 children aged between three and eleven years. The school is situated near the centre of Solihull, West Midlands, England.

History

Founded in the 1909 [1], the main building is a substantial Edwardian building, once a large private home - a fact that contributes to the strong family spirit within the school. The school has been based at its current location since 1940 when it merged with St Boniface School and entered the Carr-Smith family.

Unlike most Preparatory Schools in the Birmingham/Solihull area, Ruckleigh School has always been co-educational, and its character has therefore remained constant.

Over the years the building has been extended and several purpose-built developments added to the main building and in the grounds, including the rebuilding of the area for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The school is non-denominational, with children from all and no faiths. Regular Assemblies take place with both religious and non-religious content. The main religious festivals from mainstream religions are celebrated.

Ruckleigh School was awarded Sunday Times Independent Preparatory School of the Year 2014[2][3]
