释义 |
10 résolutions de Russell (Russell's 10 Resolutions of 1837[1], Russell's 10 resolutions, The Russell resolutions) were resolutions submitted by British Interior Minister John Russell to the Lower Canada House of Assembly on March 6, 1837. The resolutions authorized the government of Lower Canada to spend money without the consent of the Assembly. The 10 resolutions were a response to 92 resolutions (demands for political reforms in the British-governed colony) drafted by Louis-Joseph Papineau and other members of the Parti patriote of Lower Canada, sent in 1834 by the Patriotes majority in the House of Assembly with details of grievances against the government[2]. Lord Russell's ten proposed resolutions were a resounding negative response to each of the ninety-two resolutions. They never became law as the parliament dissolved when the King died in June.[3] See AlsoLegislative Assembly of Lower CanadaL'Assemblée des six-comtés (painting)Ninety-Two ResolutionsPatriote movementPatriote popular assemblies{{AFC submission|||ts=20190319183916|u=Flagrant hysterical curious|ns=118}} |
