He made his senior debut for Fleetwood Town F.C in September 2011, and made a total of 5 league and cup appearances for the club before he was allowed to join Northern Premier League side Clitheroe F.C on loan in January 2012.
Tanser spent time in his youth at teams Burnley & Blackpool, before coming through the youth academy at Fleetwood Town. He made his professional debut for the "Cod Army" after coming on as an 82nd minute substitute for Andy Mangan in a 4-2 victory away at Stockport County. He made 5 appearances for the club, adding one goal to his tally before joining Clitheroe F.C on loan.
