Salt Cathedral is a Colombian band formed in Boston, MA, and currently based in Brooklyn, NY. The band consists of Juliana Ronderos and Nicolas Losada, and have released one album, Oom Velt.[1]

Career

Juli and Nico both grew up in the same neighborhood in Bogotá, Colombia, but didn't meet until they were both attending Berklee School of Music in Boston, MA.[2] The band released their first EP in 2013 and released their music independently until they signed with Ultra Music in 2018.[3] They appeared at South by Southwest in 2018, and afterward released a video for the song "No Love".[4]

Salt Cathedral has released three EPs, and six singles, including their most recent single "Rude Boy."[5] They have over thirty million streams on Spotify (including nearly 12 million for their single "Always There When I Need You") and their music has also been featured in publications such as The Guardian,[6] Pitchfork,[7] FADER,[8] VICE,[9] Billboard,[10] Wonderland Magazine,[11] Consequence of Sound,[12] iHeartRadio,[13] Jezebel,[14] and The Village Voice.[15]

In 2017, the band played in studio for a Paste Magazine exclusive,[16] and in 2018 performed at Billboard's Industry Nights showcase.[17] Their shows have been covered by The New Yorker,[18] Metro,[19] and Miami New Times.[20] Since 2017 they have played two US tours with indie acts Coast Modern[21] and Empress Of.

On April 12, 2019 Ultra Records will release Salt Cathedral’s new single “Go and Get It" featuring Big Freedia and Jarina De Marco.
