He is highly touted as a 200 game player. His elite skills were rewarded with Walsh winning the Larke Medal for best player in the U18 championships and won the Ben Mitchell medals an award voted by his peers for best displaying the values of the AFL Academy. In addition he was made captain of the Vic metro team in the U18 competion. Vice captain for the Geelong falcons and was named captain of the U18 All Australian Team.
