The club was founded in 2007 and currently competes in the LGR2 competition.[1] Since 2015 they plays its home matches at Marrozos.[2] SRC plays in yellow and black colours. HistoryThe club can trace its history back to 1934 when the first university rugby team was formed,[3] playing its first match in 1936.[4] Its first rivals after the Civil War were from Vigo,[5] competing in the Spanish championship for the first time in 1943 against SEU Vigo[6] and Real Madrid.[7] During the 40s, 50s and 60s they played several finals of the Galician championship,[8] winning some of them.[9][10] Along the existence of the university club (called SEU Santiago since 1943 and CDU Santiago since 1952[11]), new teams emerged in the city, such as the SD Compostela rugby section in 1962, the Compostela RC in 1990[12] and the ADX Ferro in 2001[13], all of them ephemeral. After the disappearance of CDU Santiago no club of the city participated in any official competition between 2005 and 2010[14], until a group of former players decided to found a new club, the current one. StadiumThe team plays its home matches at Marrozos while the university's rugby field (nicknamed "La Lija") is being developed to have an artificial surface for the 2018-2019 season.[15] References1. ^Galician rugby union website {{es}} 2. ^El Correo Gallego (2015) {{es}} 3. ^El Pueblo Gallego (1934) {{es}} 4. ^El Correo Gallego (2018) {{es}} 5. ^El Pueblo Gallego (1943) {{es}} 6. ^El Pueblo Gallego (1943) {{es}} 7. ^Hoja de los Lunes (1943) {{es}} 8. ^El Pueblo Gallego (1958) {{es}} 9. ^La Noche (1948) {{es}} 10. ^La Noche (1961) {{es}} 11. ^La Noche (1962) {{es}} 12. ^Spanish rugby union website {{es}} 13. ^Spanish rugby union website {{es}} 14. ^El Correo Gallego (2010) {{es}} 15. ^[https://www.lavozdegalicia.es/noticia/santiago/2017/01/25/equipos-futbol-rugby-compostelanos-podran-uso-campo-usc/0003_201701201701251485348378170.htm La Voz de Galicia (2017)] {{es}} External links
