Sean Quincy, born Sean Borg Manche (June 4th, 1995) made his first foray into music in the early 2010’s as a rapper who drew from a very broad range of influences from A Tribe Called Quest to Mac Miller. As Sean matured so too did his sound, which began to reach more deeply into the musical influences of his childhood such as Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain. Determined to escape from the recklessness of his teenage years, Sean devoted himself to his guitar and vocal chords leaving the world behind as Sean Manche, and only to return as Sean Quincy. Sonically, Quincy developed into an indie cross-over of RnB centred ballads with unpredictable melodic hooks more reminiscent of boom-bap Hip Hop. However, Quincy’s ongoing releases throughout 2016 and 2017 such as ‘I Can’t Even’, ‘Vogue’, and the ‘U&I’ EP have demonstrated a distinct Jazz influence in their melody, yet what has become increasingly clear of the eclecticism of Quincy’s music is that his genre continues to be undefined.
