It is a registered charity[1] and the resident theatre company at the Bridewell Theatre where it puts on around six to ten shows a year. HistoryFounded in 1905 by senior members of the Stock Exchange, led by Charles Dickinson and Cyril Bathurst. With the exception of brief intermissions during WW1 and WW2, the Society has presented musical and dramatic productions every year since 1905. OperationsSedos performs both musicals and plays, usually performing 8-10 shows a year in London and sometimes at the Edinburgh Fringe. They also offer membership events and specialist classes such as improvisation, dance workshops and more[2]. Previously, Sedos was run by “the Committee” who acted as both the management group and the Society’s Trustees. On 19 May 2017 at the AGM[3], it was agreed by Sedos members to move to a new structure separating the day-to-day running of the Society from the governance/long-term responsibilities. As such, the Committee was renamed the "Trustees” and a new body, knowns as the Management Committee was set up to run the Society on a day-to-day basis. AwardsSedos won the National Operatic and Dramatic Association’s (NODA) Shinfield Players Scenic Award for Into the Woods (2014) and Noises Off (2015). Our 2017 production of Frankenstein won the national NODA award for standard class programmes. List of shows[4]
