The Sendje HPP is a hydroelectric power plant under construction in the mainland region of Equatorial Guinea below the Djibloho HPP on the Wele River (it originates in Gabon and, crossing the territory of Equatorial Guinea, flows into the Gulf of Guinea). Upon completion, the installed capacity of the hydropower plant (200 MW) will be the largest among all the country's generating capacity, and the concrete dam (63.0 m) will be the highest among the dams in Equatorial Guinea.

The construction site is located 30 km south of the capital of the continental region of the city of Bata and 20 km east of the town of Mbini located at the mouth of the Wele River. As part of the project, the river will be blocked by a concrete gravity dam 63.0 meters high; in addition, when creating a pressure front for water in the reservoir, four auxiliary earthen dams up to 20 meters high will be built. The project execution for the construction of hydropower plant began in 2012. The official opening of the construction by the President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea with the participation of members of the government, parliament and public delegations took place in February 2012.

In autumn 2015, the Wele River was dammed.[4][5]

As of March 2018, the launch of the Sendje HPP is scheduled within 31 months.[6]
