Sergey Borisovich Brilev.[1] (born July 24, 1972) - is the Russian journalist, news anchor, PhD in history, public figure, Deputy Director of All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.

An author and anchor of his political TV program "Vesti v subbotu" [2] (Saturday News) at Russia-1 and 24/7 news channel Russia-24.

Co-founder and the President of The Bering-Bellingshausen Institute for the Americas, IBBA[3]: Montevideo, Uruguay - Moscow, Russia.

The member of the governing Board of the Council on Foreign and Defence Policy, SVOP[4], the member of Valdai Discussion Club[5], the member of the Russian TV Academy [6]

Biography

Sergey was born in Havana, Cuba. Due to his parents job his early life was spent between Uruguay, Ecuador and Russia (then - Soviet Union). Fluently speaks English language and Spanish language.

In 1990-1993 - correspondent-intern at Science and Education department of Komsomolskaya Pravda daily newspaper. Columnist at uruguayan newspapers "La Republica" and "El Observador Economico".

In 1993-1995 - special correspondent of an International department of The Moscow News newspaper. Moscow based correspondent of argentinian "La Razon" newspaper. Author of special reports for "International panorama" at the national TV.

In 1995 - graduated from Moscow State Institute of International Relations, MGIMO University, Faculty of an International journalism.

Television career

Since 1995 - at Russia-1.

In 1995-1996 - special correspondent of the daily news program "Vesti" ("News") during First Chechen War.

In 1996-2001 - chief of London, United Kingdom "Vesti" bureau.

In 2001-2003 - anchor of evening news "Vesti".

In 2003-2007 - anchor of Sunday review - "Vesti nedeli" ("Weekly news")

Since 2008 - author and anchor of his own program "Vesti v subbotu s Sergeyem Brilyovym" [7] ("Saturday news with Sergey Brilev")
