Upon completing her final year of high school, the University of Sydney awarded Kasif a partial scholarship and it was at the University of Sydney she completed a [https://sydney.edu.au/courses/courses/uc/bachelor-of-liberal-arts-and-science0.html Bachelor of Liberal Studies], majoring in [https://sydney.edu.au/courses/subject-areas/major/asian-studies0.html Asian Studies] and [https://sydney.edu.au/science/schools/school-of-history-and-philosophy-of-science.html History and Philosophy of Science]. After completing her degree Kasif completed a part-time Events Management course at NIDA. CareerThe Really Useful GroupSerin Kasif is the Vice-President of Production for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Really Useful Group. She is currently producing the World Tour of The Phantom of the Opera, which opens at the Solaire Theatre in Manila on the 28 February 2019.[1][2] Now based in London, Kasif first joined the Sydney office of The Really Useful Group (RUG) in December 2012 under Kerry Comerford.[3] When in 2016 RUG moved all their operations back to London, Kasif joined the London office as part of this transition.[4] For The Really Useful Group Kasif oversees and produces major international tours and develops strategic partnerships with a keen focus on the Asia-Pacific region and developing markets around the world. Most recently Kasif oversaw the premiere of School of Rock’s Australasia tour in Melbourne, produced by GWB Entertainment in November 2018.[5][6] Executive Producer Madeleine Lloyd Webber flew into Melbourne especially to launch the tour[7], which will continue to move through Australia and Asia over the next 18 months. On behalf of RUG Kasif developed the relationship with SMG.[8] Kasif worked closely with the SMG Live team on a Mandarin language production of Tell Me on a Sunday, starring Lou Yixiao, Li-Tong Tsu and Weiling Lin. The story was not only translated into Mandarin but also adapted to better reflect the story of a young Chinese woman.[9][10] In June 2018 SMG Live and RUG jointly announced The Phantom Project 2020[11] in Shanghai, which outlined a series of future plans including the largest scale China tour of The Phantom of the Opera in 2020 and a reality TV show to find musical talent in China.[12][13] Special ProjectsSerin Kasif consults on industry think tanks and participates in a range of special projects to help develop the industry and talent. In March 2018 Kasif was invited to participate in a private roundtable with Shadow Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, Keir Starmer to discuss business examples and policy input on the challenges and opportunities the creative industries face from Brexit. In December 2017 Kasif was invited to speak on Doing Business in China– lessons from the Media and Fashion industry.[14][15] Early CareerEarly in her career Kasif formed a small producing company Garnet Productions with Charlotte Grien. Under the garnet Productions umbrella Grien and Kasif produced a number of productions. In early 2013 they produced Dirty Blonde starring Lara Mulcahy and directed by Stuart Maunder at Sydney's Hayes Theatre (then known as the Darlinghurst Theatre).[16][17] In 2012 they produced absurdist musical The Jinglists[18] [19], written by Tamlyn Henderson and Warwick Allsopp and directed by Jo Turner[20] at the Bondi Pavilion theatre. Followed by the debut production of Allsopp and Henderson’s Pork Stiletto[21], directed by Iain Sinclair[22][23] at the Sydney institution Old Fitzroy Theatre in Woolloomooloo. In 2010 Kasif helped Michelle Guthrie start Neglected Musicals[24][25] in Sydney and whilst with Neglected Musicals Kasif worked as Assistant Producer on No Way To Treat a Lady[26], Girl Crazy[27][28], Seesaw[29][30], My Favorite Year[31][32], Nick & Nora[33], On the Twentieth Century[34][35], She Loves Me[36] and Lucky Stiff[37] all the time playing repeatedly to sold out audiences.
