SFAQ is an art publication based in San Francisco, California.

SFAQ (originally known as San Francisco Arts Quarterly) was founded in 2010 by Andrew McClintock and Greg Ito. SFAQ produced print issues quarterly from 2010 to 2016, and currently produces online content. A response to the lack of a central source of art exhibition information for the San Francisco Bay Area^[1], the print magazine initially contained a large section of event listings that was ultimately moved online, allowing more space for interviews, exhibition reviews, artist projects, and other columns.^[2] Over the course of its print run, SFAQ also produced issues of NYAQ (a New York city title), LXAQ (a Los Angeles title), DFAQ (a Distrito Federal/Mexico City title), and AQ (a column-heavy supplement to the city-specific issues). SFAQ and related titles were always free and were distributed through hundreds of galleries, museums, and other venues, as well as through paid mail subscriptions. All print issues of SFAQ remain available as .pdf files on the SFAQ website.

SFAQ and related titles featured interviews with artists, collectors, curators, dealers, etc., including Vito Acconci, Paule Anglim, Alexandre Arrechea, Tauba Auerbach, Robert Bechtle, Nayland Blake, Kathan Brown, Phong Bui, Chris Burden, John Cage, Elaine Cameron-Weir, Enrique Chagoya, Petra Collins, Paula Cooper, Petra Cortright, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Mark Flood, Amy Franceschini, Marian Goodman, Anna Halprin, Hou Hanru, Ed Hardy, Dave Hickey, Matthew Higgs, Paul Kos, George Kuchar, Tony Labat, Lynn Hershman Leeson, Tom Marioni, Fred Martin, Ryan McGinley, Jonas Mekas, Takeshi Murata, Guy Overfelt, Laura Owens, Kembra Pfahler, Kour Pour, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Pedro Reyes, Larry Rinder, Rafaël Rozendaal, Tom Sachs, Peter Selz, Paul Schimmel, Andrée Sfeir-Semler, Bonnie Ora Sherk, Molly Soda, and V. Vale, among others.

Many issues of SFAQ included artist projects, both printed within the pages of the magazine and as pull-out posters and zines. Artists who have produced projects for SFAQ include Alexandre Arrechea, Chris Burden, Lowell Darling, Amy Franceschini, Paul Kos, Tony Labat, Tom Marioni, Barry McGee, Guy Overfelt, and Tom Sachs, among many others.^[2]

SFAQ's headquarters is Ever Gold [Projects] (formerly Ever Gold Gallery), which originally occupied a space at 441 O'Farrell Street in San Francisco's Tenderloin district. From March through July of 2015, SFAQ rented a second location at 449 O'Farrell Street known as the SFAQ [Project] Space and hosted a variety of events, including art exhibitions, performances, lectures, panel discussions, and more.^[3] Events at the SFAQ [Project] Space included Comforter, an exhibition by Petra Collins; conversations between V. Vale and Mark McCloud and between V. Vale and Ed Hardy; two "video café" exhibitions, one featuring Target Video (organized by Tony Labat) and the other featuring Ira Schneider; a series of panel discussions on the power of style organized by Nicole Archer, Assistant Professor of the History and Theory of Contemporary Art at SFAI; Selected Works, an exhibition of sculptures by Takis; Some Frequently Assked Questins, an exhibition by Mark Flood; Highlights From Past SFAQ [Projects] 2012–2015, an exhibition showcasing the original artworks reproduced as artist projects in SFAQ print issues; and much more.^[4]SFAQ
