Bajaj comes from the business house started by a Rajasthani Marwadi businessman Jamnalal Bajaj. He is the chairman & managing director of Bajaj Electricals Ltd[1]., which was originally founded in 1938 as Radio Lamp Works, as well as the chairman of Bajaj Group companies - Bajaj International and Hercules Hoist Pvt. Ltd. He is also on the board of directors of Bajaj Auto and IDBI Bank. Personal lifeShekhar Bajaj was born on 8th June 1948 in Kolkata,India. He married Kiran Bajaj in the year 1970. He has one daughter, Geetika Bajaj, and one son, Anant Bajaj. Professional LifeHe is primarily responsible for the implementation of ToC (Theory of Constraints[2]) in Bajaj Electricals.Through the implementation, the regular forecasting model was replaced with a replenishment model as well as wholesalers were taken out of the picture. This eventually led to proper maintenance of inventory. Eliminating sales targets was another idea led by Shekhar Bajaj, which caused a shift from primary to secondary sales and resulted in a stronger distribution network as well as a solid backend distribution support. Shekhar Bajaj is also seen as the driving force behind implementing ToC in EPC segment of Bajaj Electricals Ltd., and achieving success within a year of its implementation. In April, 2016, he rolled out the RREP (Range, Reach Expansion Programme) distribution plan in Bajaj Electricals, which is interlinked with ToC. The objective is to integrate multi-electrical products dealers, eliminate wholesalers, and set up centralised warehouses in the company’s supply channel. The effective strategy[3] of RREP has seen an improvement in margin and sales in the recent year. Bajaj has been the past president of ASSOCHAM, Indian Merchants' Chamber (IMC) ELCOMA (Electric Lamp & Components Manufacturers Association), IFMA (Indian Fans Manufacturers Association[4]) and Council for Fair Business Practices (CFBP).
