Discovery of Shelby the Fish

Shelby the Fish was a deceased aquatic animal, discovered in the year of 2018. The animal was found rotting on a lake shore in Southern Texas by the 7th Grade of Austin Peace Academy on a school camping retreat. Upon finding, the seventh graders observed that the fish’s chest had several large cavities in it, going through the entire body.

The Naming of Shelby

Shelby was named by the student who discovered her, in honor of a tiny rock which he had lost down a storm gutter (Who’s name was Shelby). The name didn’t have much powerful meaning, but still gave the fish a personality, so the class went with it.

Story of Shelby’s Remaining Life

The students played with the fish for a while, and for the night they lay Shelby in front of their cabin. Upon waking, they decided to say farewell to their new friend. Together, they transported Shelby from the shore into the water, waist-deep.

The student who discovered Shelby tossed her into the water while the rest saluted as the fish sunk into the deep.

Post-Shelby Students

The students, after departing from their comrade, decided to honor the fish in their hearts, and petitioned to make Shelby the Fish the official symbol of the Austin Peace Academy 7th grade.
