Shifty Thrifting is a satirical entertainment site based on Tumblr which rose to relative fame in May of 2017, due to the Beet Poot meme^[1].

It focuses primarily on funny or interesting items found in thrift stores. Shifty Thrifting provides options for reader submissions and tumblr-style "asks"

The meme originated with a Sylvac jar discovered in a thrift store, marked "beet root". The base of the first "r" in "root" had worn away, causing the admin and submitter to joke about how it appeared to say "beet poot".

Following beet poot, the "poot" meme expanded, with other sylvaC jars being humorously described as "poots"^[3].
