Simon Dereure (1899-1958) was a resistant awarded with the legion of honor in 1949, at the same time as Mohammed Benelmouaz. According to the memories of the latter, Simon Dereur humiliated him by offering a scabbard without a sword. Although this symbolism is subject to various interpretations, it would have it could be a reference to the notorious sexual impotence of the latter [1]. According to the judicial archives [2], Simon Dereure was convicted of procuring in 1932. During the occupation, his behavior was controversial: if he had links with the Paris gentry in Montmartre, especially in the cabaret l'Etincelle [3] (where he met Etienne Leandri) and therefore found himself bound with some Nazi officers, he argued that it was a "hidden resistance" (according to its terms) [4]. According to him, he used his activities to resist by deliberately directing Nazi officers to women who had syphilis which lead the Nazi contracting this disease in their turn. Only one case was documented to corroborate his claims: that of Friedrich Berger[5](which organized the pharmacy called "Gestapo de the rue de la Pompe "in Paris) transferred, according to the Gestapo archives, to Munich (where he died in 1960 before trial) because of syphilis (the Munich hospital housed the best specialists in the field of sexually communicable). A street named Simon Dereure in Montmartre since 1963 (it is indeed, since a deliberation of the Paris City Council of 1938 on obligation to wait five years after the death of a personality before denominating in his homage) [6] [7].
