SISA (SISA Information Security Pvt. Ltd.,) is a Bengaluru-based cyber security company that provides payment security services. Operations Established in 2003 by Dharshan Shanthamurthy, SISA began as a security assessor for the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC), and built expertise in the payments security space over the years. The company undertakes payment forensic investigation and issues advisories to banks and fintech companies about security issues. PCI Security Standards Council recognised SISA as a Qualified Security Assessor (PCI QSA) in 2006, a first for an Indian company. SISA is now an authorised assessor for various payments standards. In 2015, SISA became the first and only India-based company to be recognised by VISA to perform PIN security onsite audits. As an approved security assessor, SISA conducts PIN Security onsite reviews in the Americas, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East. In 2017, SISA opened its Synergistic - Security Operations Centre (S-SOC) in Bengaluru to detect and manage incidents for enterprises. Infosys’ co-founder, Narayana Murthy, inaugurated the centre. The company has presence in over 30 countries and over 2,000 customers across the globe. SISA currently employs about 187 persons worldwide. 2016 Data breach investigation In 2016, India’s banking system to become aware of a large-scale data breach. Card data of 3.2 million customers was stolen between 25 May and 10 July from a network of Yes Bank Ltd ATMs managed by Hitachi Payment Services Pvt. Ltd, but it was only in September that banks and payments services providers became aware of the extent of the breach. Hitachi roped in SISA to investigate India’s largest debit card breach. The incident caused one of the biggest debit card reissuance in the country.
