ProductionOn June 3, 2015, it was announced that Walt Disney Pictures had hired Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith and Karen McCullah to write a screenplay for a remake of 1992's Sister Act with Allison Shearmur set to serve as a producer.[1] On December 7, 2018, it was announced that Disney had redeveloped the production into a sequel to Sister Act and Sister Act 2 and that they had hired screenwriters Regina Hicks and Karin Gist to write the film's screenplay.
