It is a sequel to the popular mobile game "Skater." ^[1] An early access version of the game was released on December 19th, 2018 on Steam (Software), which included the West Los Angeles Courthouse skate spot ^[2] as a playable map. ^[3] ^[4] The full version of Skater XL, to be released in 2019, will include "more skateable content all based on / inspired by parks and spots from the West Coast, video editing and export, character customization, more skaters and gear," according to Easy Day Studios. ^[5]

The game features the ability to steer with either the left analog stick or with the right and left triggers ^[6], and allows the user to control the skateboard using both analog sticks, each respectively corresponding to the left and right foot. Notably, the control scheme is designed to be intuitive for those who skateboard, utilizing motions with the left and right analog sticks for tricks that mimic how the feet are used to perform tricks in real life. ^[7]

At launch, early access for Skater XL was priced at $19.99. ^[8]
