SMUGGLER (Company)

SMUGGLER was founded in 2002.[1] by Patrick Milling-Smith and Brian Carmody. The founders were named among Creativity Magazine's 2015 All Stars[2]. SMUGGLER holds offices in New York, Los Angeles, and London[3]. In 2017, SMUGGLER was named Production Company of the Year by AdAge for the third time[4][5]. SMUGGLER has won and been nominated for Emmy Awards, the Cannes Lions Palme d'Or, and the Cannes Lions Grand Prix[6], most recently winning the latter in 2018 for Jay Z’s video "Smile"[7]. In 2011, SMUGGLER received the Made in New York Award from Mayor Bloomberg[8]. SMUGGLER was named among AdAge's Company A-list in 2018[9] and 2015[10].

Directing Roster

SMUGGLER commercially represents renowned directors such as Kathryn Bigelow, Tom Hooper, Bennett Miller, Barry Jenkins, Jonah Hill, and Susanne Bier.

Television

In 2017, SMUGGLER produced the Emmy winning spot, "Calling JohnMalkovich.com" for Squarespace[11]. In 2015 and 2016, it produced two Emmy-nominated spots for Gatorade.[12] SMUGGLER garnered an Emmy nomination in 2012 for it's work with Target on "Color Changes Everything".[13]

Theater

SMUGGLER’s 2011 Broadway production of the musical Once was nominated for 11 Tony Awards, winning eight, including Best Musical[14]

Film

In 2017, SMUGGLER produced the feature film, Weightless[15], written by Enda Walsh and starring Alessandro Nivola and Johnny Knoxville. In 2012 and 2013 respectively, SMUGGLER produced Greetings from Tim Buckley[16], and Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian starring Benicio Del Toro[17].
