}}Sonnet Mondal is an Indian poet, editor and the founder ​editor of The Enchanting Verses Literary Review.[1][2] Sonnet Mondal writes in English and has also gained international fame through his appearances at numerous literary festivals like Galle Literary Festival,[3] [https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poesiefestival_Berlin Poesiefestival] - Berlin, and Struga Poetry Evenings.[4] He is one of the international ​coordinators of Lyrikline, Haus für Poesie Berlin,[5] ​and has been an author at the Silk Routes project of the International Writing Program, University of Iowa.​[6][7][8][9][10]

Life and work

Born and brought up in Kolkata Sonnet Mondal has been a contributing editor for the Words Without Borders magazine and Poetry at Sangam. He publishes The Enchanting Verses and acts as a curator for Lyrikline and Nederlands Letterenfonds.[11] In November 2016, Mondal led an Indian cultural delegation to the Ars Poetica International Festival, Slovakia​[12][13] ​and read at the 2018 Fairway Galle Literary Festival, Sri Lanka.[14] ​In 2017, ​he read at the Cork International Festival, Ireland[15] and represented India at the 10th anniversary edition of the Istanbul Poetry and Literature festival​ ​and was a part of the Indian-Hungarian translation workshop in 2018 organised by the Fiatal Írók Szövetsége​​.​[16] ​​His poems have appeared in publications like World Literature Today,[17] Kyoto Journal, Irish Examiner,[18] and his poems in Slovenian translation were aired at the Literary Nokturno program of the Public Radio & Television of Slovenia in 2016.[19][20]

Reception

Sonnet Mondal was featured as one of the Famous Five of Bengali Youths by India Today in 2010,[21] and in March 2015, he was named by the website The CultureTrip as one of the top five entrepreneurs of Indian poetry in English[22]. In 2018 he was among the top five recommendations of News World India[23] and was also featured in the list of fourteen young poets at MensXP.com.[24] In February 2018 BuzzFeed listed him among 20 Modern Indian Poets Who Will Make You Fall In Love With Poetry.[25]. Sonnet Mondal was awarded the Gayatri Garmarsh Memorial award for literary excellence in 2016. [26]
