Spokenology^[1]^[2] (from Chinese 口语学, kǒu yǔ xué, literally "oral, language, to learn") is the part of language that studies speaking.^[3] It “is an academic subject on speaking education” (Chi, 2016, pg. XI).^[4] It is derived from two English words: spoken and ology. Spoken means delivered by orally communicated. And Ology defined as a branch of knowledge. The discipline of language is one of many branches. That is all under social science.

Background

The first experimental research project for Spokenology was held from October 23, 2013 through November 26, 2014. The English department of Liaoning University provided facility. Register participates was mainly consist of English major students.

The first public university to study the Spokenology course was Shenyang Normal University from August 25, 2014. When Tsinghua University Press published English Spokenology: You and Me textbook in 2016. The college stops using unpublished version.

Shenyang Youth Volunteers Association of the Communist Youth League (Shenyang Municipal Committee) was the first to offered English Spokenology professional skills course. At Shenyang Jianzhu University, Shenyang University, Shenyang University of Chemical Technology, and Shenyang Institute of Engineering Technology throughout 2015.

The very first affiliated organization in relation to Spokenology was from Shenyang Normal University. That started Spokenology Association in 2015.

In October 9, 2015 the School of Language and Culture of Shenyang City University was the first private university to used Tsinghua University Press English Spokenology textbook as a course for English major students.

The New Channel School of Shenyang was the first to have Spokenology internship for university learners, and was the first training institution to have class on Spokenology course. The internship program started from June 20, 2016. The first student to issue the internship letter, and certificate was to Chen Jin Yu of Shenyang City University.

The word, Spokenology was first nationally introduced by Beijing Review an English news magazine in the People's Republic of China. It was the 35th issue story in the culture section called, “Accidental Choice, Destined Career".^[5] The magazine was published in September of 2016 by China International Publishing Group.

Spokenology first appeared in a dictionary. Just a few days after Beijing Review articled, “Accidental Choice, Destined Career". The PowerWord of Kingsoft Corporation was the first to include the word.

Tsinghua University Press published the first English Spokenology textbook for English major students on the China’s national holiday on October 1, 2016. The book is called, English Spokenology: You and Me.

Northeastern University graduate students Guo Pei Yu were the first to share his expertise. On June 20, 2017 he confirms that robots can certainly benefit from Spokenology. It will able to bring some new knowledge to the study of robots.

The first Spokenology knowledge test was consists of 100 multiple choice questions. It covered from all the study of applied speaking topics of Tsinghua University Press English Spokenology textbook. Yao Chun Xu and Yin Zi Tong of Shenyang City University assist on creating it. It was completed on July 7, 2017. Both had previous study Spokenology course.

The very first Spokenology logo for Spokenology Association was created by Lin Chun Yu and Sun Xi of two designers from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts. It was created during the summer of August 9, 2017.

WeChat of Tencent Holdings Limited was the first multi-purpose messaging, and social media provider to host the, “Spokenology Academics” group for teachers. It was for instructors to gain access to free lectures and costless resources. That will equip the teaching profession in speaking education. It was during September, 2017 that the social group was formed.

The first, “Spokenology Academics” online teaching course certificate for English spokenist was distributed on November 27, 2017. It’s was during the first teachers lecture training event. The online course certificate was made on November 20.

On 2018 in January second Youdao dictionary of NetEase, Inc. Is the second to include the word Spokenology, and along with the words spokenologist, and spokenist.

The Spokenology Teachers’ Association was formed on January 5, 2018. It was publicly announced on WeChat moments of Tencent Holdings Limited in January 15, 2018. Prior that day an informal meeting was held along with representatives of Spokenology Association before the online announcement. The online Spokenology Academics multi-purpose messaging and social media WeChat learners suggested, and assisted on creating the Spokenology Teachers’ Association.

The Teachers Online of Liaoning Sunshine E-commerce Corporation Ltd. president Tom Lang has invited to Spokenology organizations to provide online its first learning services. The invitation was on January 12, 2018, and following the Spokenology Channel logo was introduced on January 18, 2018. Some of the interface designs programs were created on January 24, 2018.

The first cartoon to promote the importance for learning Spokenology Studies was designed by Tina Tian. It was publicly display on WeChat moments of Tencent Holdings Limited on January 23, 2018.

The official Spokenology Teachers’ Association (STA) meeting was held on March 16, 2018. Two days later the association logo was created.

On March 28, 2018 a group of students with Luke Shen-Tien Chi together form the Spokenology Studies Society (SSS) at Shenyang Normal University. It’s the first society that focuses more on the learning aspects of Spokenology Studies.

The official Spokenology Studies Society (SSS) WeChat platform of Tencent Holdings Limited was made available on April 10, 2018.

Following the official Spokenology Teachers’ Association (STA) WeChat platform of Tencent Holdings Limited was available on April 28, 2018.

The first formal joint meeting with all the Spokenology organizations was held on April 30, 2018.

The Spokenology Association (SA), Spokenology Teachers’ Association (STA), and Spokenology Studies Society (SSS) were all presence for the event.

Lai Wen Kai assisted in writing, and organized the first Spokenology Teachers’ Association (STA) regulation papers for the association. It was completed on July 17, 2018.

On July 23, 2018 Chu Chu completed the translation for the Standard of Spokenology Knowledge Competition. It‘s first spoken knowledge competition rules for informative speech.

Spokenology Studies Society (SSS) had its first dinner event for the new members on October 31, 2018.

The updated edition of Spokenology Studies Society (SSS) position papers was available on November 9, 2018.

The Spokenology Association (SA) position paper was also updated on November 12, 2018.

China’s first Spokenology knowledge test for the first semester was made printed on November 27, 2018. It follows the same standard as the Chinese final proficiency test. The examination is consists of 100 questions in 3 different exam sets. That will avoid anyone from cheating.

The first design of the Certificate of Apprenticeship was completed on December 12, 2018. And the first Application for Spokenology Apprenticeship was ready on December 17, 2018.

The first special lecture of Spokenology Rewire your Mind: Mastering the Skills of Communication was on December 26, 2018. Both Spokenology Association (SA) and Spokenology Studies Society (SSS) were presence during the event.

The cover of the fore coming Spokenology textbook called,” Spokenology Science: Theoretical Concepts behind Spoken Languages” was shared publicly online on January 6, 2019.
