The company's main manufacturing facility is located in Dorchester County, South Carolina.[2] HistoryOriginally founded by two legendary boat builders, Tommy Hancock and Dale Martin, Sportsman Boats was the vision to fulfill a need in the boating market place.[3] Starting with a 20,000-square-foot space in 2011, the manufacturing facility has undergone several expansions.[4] The current facility was expanded from 74,000 square feet to 190,000 square feet in 2014.[5] The latest expansion plans to add an additional 75,000 square feet and cost $3.5 million.[6] OverviewSportsman Boats manufacturers and markets boats ranging from 20-foot to 31-foot Center console (boat) in 4 different series. They produce 2 lines of offshore center console boats and 2 lines of inshore bay boats.[7] The offshore boats are marketed as the Open Series, with a size range of 21-foot to 31-foot and the Heritage Series, with a size range of 21-foot to 25-foot. The inshore boats are marketed as the Masters Series, which range from 20-foot to 26-foot and the Tournament Series, which ranges from 21-foot to 23-foot. Solar Panel ProjectIn 2017, Sportsman showed off its $1.2 million solar energy project consisting of 2,394 3-by-5 panels on the rooftop of their manufacturing facility.[6] The solar farm has an estimated output of 800-kilowatt[8] and the company stated that the panels would produce enough energy to run the entire plant.[6] References1. ^1 {{cite web|title=Boat builders are back: Hancock, Martin form company|url=https://www.postandcourier.com/business/boat-builders-are-back-hancock-martin-form-company/article_d21b7eac-1789-5554-96d8-388eb9f2b9f0.html|website=The Post and Courier|accessdate=9 October 2018}} 2. ^{{cite web|title=SPORTSMAN BOATS MANUFACTURING ANNOUNCES NEW FACILITY IN DORCHESTER COUNTY|url=https://www.crda.org/news/local_news/sportsman-boats-manufacturing-announces-new-facility-in-dorchester-county/|website=Charleston Regional Development Alliance|accessdate=10 October 2018}} 3. ^{{cite web|title=Sportsman Boats Manufacturing, Inc.|url=http://www.boatersbook.com/Businesses/United-States/South-Carolina/Summerville/Sportsman-Boats-Manufacturing-Inc/_L2DImm|website=boatersbook|accessdate=10 October 2018}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Sportsman Boats expanding in Dorchester County|url=https://charlestonbusiness.com/news/manufacturing/72779/|website=Charleston Regional Business Journal|accessdate=10 October 2018}} 5. ^{{cite web|title=Summerville boat builder to add 150 jobs|url=https://www.postandcourier.com/business/summerville-boat-builder-to-add-jobs/article_44d87415-448d-56c1-8396-87c9d2d57a1b.html|website=The Post and Courier|accessdate=10 October 2018}} 6. ^1 2 {{cite web|title=Sportsman Boats announces $3.5 million expansion|url=https://www.journalscene.com/news/sportsman-boats-announces-million-expansion/article_492f360e-88ea-11e7-9624-0f8de5c501cd.html|website=The Summerville Journal Scene|accessdate=10 October 2018}} 7. ^{{cite web|title=About Sportsman Boats|url=https://www.sportsmanboatsmfg.com/about|website=Sportsman Boats|accessdate=10 October 2018}} 8. ^{{cite web|title=BDC Assists Sportsman Boats in Going Solar at Production Facilities|url=https://www.businessdevelopment.org/email_November28-17.html|website=Business Development|accessdate=10 October 2018}} |
