Sri Hari Atchuta Rama Sastry is a South Indian violinist and a professional Vedic pandit from Andhra Pradesh. He is most popularly credited for being one of the first telugu pandits rendering numerous vedic chants Audio Cassettes, CDs and DVDs. He is a household name in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu states for rendering vedic chants and deity worship process (known as pooja vidhi) for Hindu religious festivals such as Ganesh Chaturthi, Vara Lakshmi, Dassera and Diwali. BackgroundSri Hari Atchuta Rama Sastry is born in to a family of karnatic musicians. He is the son of Late Sri Hari Nagabhushanam a karnatic music scholar, a recipient of the prestigious title VÃGGEYAKÃRA RATHNA in 1932 from Madras Presidency. Sri Hari Nagabhushanam was a disciple in the direct lineage of Saint Sri Tyagaraja. He currently lives in Chennai, capital city of Tamil Nadu, India. MusicSri Hari Atchuta Rama Sastry learnt Karnatic music - Vocal and Violin - from is father. He is an adept in both classical karnatic music and regular light music. He can both sing and play violin together –VOCO-SOLO-VIOLIN - a very rare talent he inherited from his father. He would render classical Karnatic music in the Tyagaraja tradition. VedasSri Hari Atchuta Rama Sastry is a sanskrit scholar and had learnt several vedic hymns. He studied Vedic scriptures, Upanishads and Bhagavad Geeta, first under his father’s guidance and later by attending the classes of Sri Paramardhananda Swamiji (direct disciple of Swamy Chinmayananda) in Madras since 1984. He renders vedic hymns in original style and provides commentary in English and Telugu languages. He is popular for his diction, style and voice quality in rendering vedic hymns. This has made him very popular among Telugu people. The pooja series with details of worship process by Atchuta Rama Sastry have made him very popular with Telugu families. He is personally devoted to the deity Lord Rama. Music CareerSri Hari Atchuta Rama Sastry made his first classical Karnatic music stage performance at the age of 7 years. From a very young age he has performed many Karnatic classical music concerts together with his older brother Late Sri Hanumath Sastry. He accompanied on violin, for great vocalists like Dr. Balamuralikrishna, Late Maharajapuram Santhanam and many others. Telugu film legendary actress P Bhanumathi Ramakrishna and famous South India playback singer S Janaki would consult Atchuta Rama Sastry for music direction involving Karnatic Music. South India film singer Janaki consulted him for the rendering Tyagaraja kirtanas for her first Karnatic musical cassette release. He joined the south India film orchestra in Madras/Chennai in 1952 as a Violinist in the leadership of famous Music directors – Chittor Nagayya (THYAGARAJA movie fame), Addepalli Rama Rao, Pendyala Nageswara Rao, Saluru Rajeswararao, Ghantasala, K.V.Mahadevan, T V Chalapathi Rao, Adinarayana Rao, T V Raju to mention a few. Vedic CareerSri Hari Atchuta Rama Sastry would perform poojas and homams at scale. He worked to make Vedas easily reach Telugu people through his Vedic audio releases for Upanishads, Sooktams, Rudram, Namakam and Chamakam. He became a house hold name with his audio releases for Ganesh Pooja and Vara Lakshmi Pooja. He originally composed tunes and sung Ganesha Pancha Ratnam, Devi Pranava Sthuthi, Nava Graha Sthuthi, Aditya Hridayam, Shyamala Dandakam, Srinivasa Gadyam, Gadya Trayam, Mahishasura Mardini stotram, Anjaneya dandakam, etc. He has numerous professional Vedic audio releases with music corporates like HMV, T-Series and various audio web portals.
