Stefan Çapaliku was born in 1965 in Shkodra. He is an Albanian writer, researcher and artist. In 1988, he graduated from the University of Tirana in Albanian language and literature, followed by further graduate studies in Italy, Czech Republic and England. In 1996 he completed his Ph.D in Philological Studies at the University of Tirana. From 1993 until 1998 he has chaired the Literature Department at the University of Shkodra. As Director of Written Culture and Communication at the Ministry of Culture (1998 to 2005), he was responsible for drafting national book policies in the sector of publications, libraries and archives. From 2007 to 2008, he was appointed as Professor of History of Albanian Literature and Civilization at the Department of Albanology of the Faculty of Philology at the University of Belgrade. He currently works as a researcher at the Academy for Albanian Studies[1] and from 2005 to 2015 he lectured the subject of Aesthetics at the University of Fine Arts in Tirana. His plays have been performed in several international theater festivals, where he was awarded with national and international prizes. Parts of his works in poetry, prose, drama and essays have been translated into English, German, French, Italian, Romanian, Polish, Bulgarian, Serbian, Macedonian and Turkish. He is a Europa Prize of Theater nominee for the New Theater realities[2]. As a playwright, he was awarded with the price of "The Best Albanian Author"[3] for the years: 1995, 2003, 2007, 2012, 2016.
