Stephen Rosenfield is the author of Mastering Stand-Up: The Complete Guide to Becoming a Successful Comedian and founding director of the American Comedy Institute. He coaches and directs stand-ups and actors ranging from beginners to Oscar-nominated talent and winners of MAC, Obie, Emmy, and Tony awards. His stand-up students' accomplishments include performing in the top clubs in North America and around the world; creating and starring in their own sitcoms on HBO, Comedy Central, and TV Land; and starring in stand-up comedy specials on Netflix and Comedy Central. They've appeared on every late-night TV talk show and are the hosts of talk shows on Televisa and Fox Networks. They are published authors, and their comedy writing credits include Saturday Night Live, The Daily Show, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Girls (TV series), Late Night with David Letterman, and The Jim Gaffigan Show. As actors, they've appeared on Broadway, in network and premium cable television series, and in major motion pictures. Stephen has been a guest artist and lecturer in comedy at the University of Florida, Brigham Young University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Barnard College, the University of Washington, The New School, New York University, [[ Lawrence University]], and the Union Theological Seminary (New York City). He was the founding artistic director of Humber College's comedy program, a professor of theater and comedy, and the director of the comedy program at William Paterson University. He is currently on the board of directors of the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). Stephen has a BA in theater and drama cum laude from Lawrence University and an MFA in theater direction from Stanford University.
